Stop! Don’t Send That Tweet.

Really. Just put the whole matter out of your mind. You don’t need to share with the world your feelings about Prince’s death, Prince Harry’s children, or Newton’s Principia. Or much of anything else for that matter. And why? It’s because nobody cares.

Sorry, but somebody had to tell you. You’re wasting your time. Worse, you’re wasting the time of the very people whose good will you need and who probably actually care about what you think about developments in YOUR field. That’s why they follow your tweets and your Facebook postings in the first place.

Stop wasting time and energy. Instead, use your social media platforms as a way to remind your networks that you’re still here, you’re on top of the related news, and you have things to say worth noting and remembering.

And on the same subject, Judge Judy is fond of saying we have two ears and one mouth for a reason. That’s a clever way of saying…say less.
